It's a very admirable project - but what does $15,000 buy in Miami-Dade? I wonder how he plans on getting the cats to stick around. And if he's rescued more than 572 - he'll need more than a "small" piece of land, won't he?

I've dreamed about this kind of thing myself - but to buy property, create housing, provide on-going medical care, meet the special needs of ill or handicapped animals.... especially in a Metropolitan area like that, don't you need more money than that?

I don't mean to sound sceptical, and I wouldn't ever want to do something to discourage turning such a wonderful dream into reality... it's just the anal-ist in me rearing its ugly head.

I wonder if he has considered buying govt foreclosed property. In Texas each county has an auction every month...some start as low as $500...just depends on the property value and how much property tax is owed. A place out in the country is pretty cheap and there would be fewer restrictions on the number of animals allowed. He could even haul an old trailer out there so they'd have some shelter. Pretty amazing...he's very dedicated.
