To me, it sounds like she isn't used to drinking from a dish. Maybe she only had water from rainwater puddles before she came to you.

it could be, she also comes to us when she does it, i wonder if its an attention thing since she was a stray. She then is more then welcome to be dried and brushed, also i posted on other threads but maybe you can help me. We brought her in last wednesday from our back yard, she was at our door for like 3 days. We took her to the vet, she was underweight, really dirty. The vet gave her her shots, and an IV since she was dehydrated. We also took her to the groomer and she had to be shaved since her fur was pretty badly matted. Now, she still shakes/shivers, the vet wants to a blood panel to see if there are any other problems. Could she be shaking from the shave? Or could she still be sick? any help would be thankful.

Well, I'm no vet, but it could be because she's cold or still weak from not having enough food. But, if you have her inside and you're comfortably warm, she may still be dehydrated, have low blood sugar, or a number of other things. One thing you might could try....if you have any white corn syrup, see if you can get her to lick a drop or two off your finger. It's safe...and it might help if her sugar is low.

Can you cuddle with her?? Does she shake while you are holding her? I'll go back and read your other posts. Many being sent her way.

I read your other posts, and I'd definitely try the corn syrup....and get her to the vet for blood work.
Keep us updated!

she is eating, and we gave her pedialite for a couple days, until she would not drink it anymore. now just plain water, I'll try the corn syrup, and we will be getting her to the vet this week for those tests, she seems ok otherwise, i just found her drinking out of the tolit, while i was writing this, i guess otherwise she is ok. thanks for the info

I can see paws in there but maybe you need to put the bowls in a higher dish. They have food/water bowls in a stand for larger breed dogs. It should be high enough so the cat can't get her chest in the water when she drinks.

Or you just have a cat that likes to play in water
