Hey folks,
After taking Toby to the vet on Wednesday w/ the infamous "peeing outside the box" symptom, she did a urinalysis and it came back with crystals and bacteria... She said it could be due to either the bacteria or the diet he's on (NB duck/pea). She sent us home with antibiotics to treat the bacteria in hopes that would clear up the crystals.

I've got my fingers crossed that will solve the problem, but just in case it is the diet, I have some questions for you food gurus or those with experience with crystals and allergies...

1. Is NB greenpea/duck dry or the NB cans especially bad in terms of promoting crystal growth?

I'll post the nutrition info below

2. What "allergy" diets could I use that would be better in terms of ph and not promoting crystals (I've been looking at the Cal. natural herring/sweet potato if he's not allergic to either of those ingredients, have also been looking at "dog" allergy foods made by cal. natural)?

3. What are "good", "ok", and "bad" numbers for the minerals, etc. that cause crystals (so that I'll know what to look for)?

I have ordered some of the NB duck/pea and venison/pea cans (coming next week) so I plan on feeding Toby about half dry NB and half canned (if I can get him to eat that much). I won't be getting any of the EVO canned rabbit or venison, so that won't be an option for now.

Thanks for your help!

By the % s I see nothing yelling could cause UTI... All cats are unique some get crystals on a RX diet designed to dissolve crystals ...

can you discuss homemade?? I know some relatively hypo diets that can be adjusted for UTI
