KatKwiz can no longer operate as it has in the past due to the newly incorporated interest payments. The rules state that KatKwiz will pay out 1% of its bank balance daily, which was equal to the amount received in interest. This scheme would have kept KatKwiz going forever, paying out ever increasing amounts of points due to my posting and further donations. But now the interest has been cut from 2.00% to 0.03%, a drastic cut. Although I agree with the cut to curb inflation, the cats are faced with two choices:

1. Change the KatKwiz rules from paying out 1.00% daily to 0.15% daily. The impact of this would be that the daily payout would go from 3500 points to just 500 points, a drastic cut indeed.

2. Keep the payout at 3500 points a day until the KatKwiz bank has paid out all points donated by our members. At present, this would mean KatKwiz could continue at the present level for about 60 days with no further donations. Of course, depending on the level of donations, it could still run forever.

I personally prefer the latter because over time the daily payout has reached this level and our players have come to expect this daily level. I doubt that we would hold on to many players if the payout went from 3500 to 500.

The cats and I have decided that we will abide by this one time poll and will carry on according to the outcome.

I voted for the 0.15% payout as I thought this quiz was a bit of fun and a way of getting to know the site better? Do points matter that much to people?

Yeah, I think that's a good thing too, to get back to saner prizes. Once people feel the difference in the interest rate, the new prizes will be super attractive again!

Don't worry about running out of points for the KatKwiz, Lee. I really want KatKwiz to go on and I will personally make sure you'll never run out of points to run it! Adjusting the prizes in due time may still be a good idea, but please don't feel like you have to rush anything.

How about a compromise and you give out 1500-2000 points daily? You could try that for a bit and adjust as needed.

I voted for 0.15% too. But the problem is making sure the bank balance stays in a substantial amount or else the payout would diminish quickly.

Thats where the donations from our members come in, personally I think each of us who enjoys playing and/or watching and learning should donate a portion of our points that we gather each week to the Kwiz, no matter whether its a little or a lot, it still helps the payout.

I voted for the 3500 because it helps the newer people accumulate points, but as for me, it don't matter either way. I just have fun trying to find the answer

I voted for cutting the points awarded.. I'd still play for 500.
I thought of something else -- don't know if it would be good or not. How about cutting the number of quizzes per week? Maybe to 2 or 3 -- could be on (Tuesdays and Saturdays) or (Saturdays, Sundays and Wednesdays) -- something like that. Or maybe 4 per week.

I voted for the first one.

If (and when) I can afford to I will donate the points I can afford to (even if it means I have to stop getting gifts for people - the KatKwiz is a better cause)

I also voted for the first option. I take the quiz for fun and for getting to know the site better, not for the points.

Just my two cents,

Felinelady

I have voted 0.15% becouse the KatKwiz is a bit of fun. It also gets the members interacting with each other. And you get to know the site and members better. Its not about points for me. I dont mind building my points via posting rather than earning or winning them. Its not the winning that matters its the taking part.

I have been fighting with the cats this morning. Persi wanted to give out 7,000 points each day and Alley wanted to give out ten. So we decided on 2,000, which is exactly half way between 3500 and 500. I was gratified that most of you would play for a lesser amount but also wanted to give our newbies a rapid way of accumulating points.
So, I no longer have to do any math every day to figure out how many points to give out!

I had to post new rules reflecting this change but that is the only change. However, if you have not actually done so, please click on the link below and review them. I have made them as short as possible so please take a minute to review them.
