I just noticed that one of my indoor cats has worms. I have two cats (although I have yet to look I am sure the other does as well). The one with worms is 2 and the other is 1. I will be making a vet visit as soon as possible to get it taken care of but I was wondering how she could have gotten them inside? She never goes outside and only eats cat food (no human food). I recently switched them to both dry and wet food, could that have anything to do with it? Thanks!

Someone correct me if I am wrong here....Tapeworms usually come from fleas. Cat goes to bite at a flea, swallows it and now has worms.

You're correct except they ONLY come from fleas.

From a site on tapeworms:

WHERE DO THEY COME FROM?

There is no other way for a pet to get tapeworms except from fleas.

Many people who had thought their pet could not possibly have fleas find out about the infestation this way. The tapeworm segment breaks open releasing its eggs. A larval flea consumes the egg along with the flea dirt that it normally eats. As the larval flea matures, so does the baby tapeworm. When a grooming dog or cat licks the flea and swallows it, the dead flea is digested in the dogâ€[emoji]8482[/emoji]s stomach releasing the baby tapeworm. The tapeworm is passed to its new home in the dog or catâ€[emoji]8482[/emoji]s small intestine where it attaches and lives its life.

^That's correct. You likely brought a flea in at some point.

Check them for fleas, if they have them that will need to be treated. Your vet can give you pills for tapeworms, if the cats have been in recently (weighed) and you have a good relationship with your vet.

Thanks, I've never noticed fleas on them or around the house but I suppose it only takes one. When I take them to the vet I'll talk to him about flea stuff as well. Thanks again!

Depends on a few things. If its tapeworms they have, its from fleas. If its roundworms, they probably had them when younger.

When you first got them, were they checked and treated for any worms.
