I've been having headaches on and off for about a week now which I thought were because of the colds I've been lucky enough to get twice in a month, but I just couldn't shake them so I started to wonder if I needed my eyes examined.
It's been over 3 years since I've had an exam so off we went, down to Davenport to get my eyes checked.
They had me take out my contacts which I realize that I am virtually BLIND without my contact in, and I start the exam. It was hilarious when they were asking me to read lines, tell them where the arrow is, and the lines is through what note. To which I replied, I can hardly read the top line, and the other two, I have NO idea. Back to the doctor I go. Get my second part of the exam done and new contacts later, I leave $$ poorer, but my headaches are already starting to fade. I guess I should have my eyes checked more often.

Fighting for ferals in NW NJ!
I'm so glad you thought to go do that! Bummer you needed new scrips, but glad the headaches are going away.

It took me MONTHS to figure out that's why I was getting headaches - but that was back when I didn't wear glasses. I finally noticed that I couldn't read street signs as easily so I went to get my eyes checked. Yup. Needed glasses. Funny enough - the headaches went away!

I've had glasses for years, I just never put 2 and 2 together this time. Had a moron moment I guess.

Over the river and through the woods...
How did you manage to get contacts if you haven't had an eye examination in over 3 years? Most places won't sell them to you unless you have a prescription that is dated in the last 2 years. Do you know a loophole? Because I have to get my eyes examined again to get more contacts in the next few months, but don't really want to have to go through the whole thing because my contact prescription is just fine.

DH had been getting terrible headaches for the last few months and finally went to the eye doctor. He wears both contacts and glasses, and his old prescription had him near sighted in one eye, far sighted in the other. After his exam, he found out he is now near sighted in both eyes.
Not quite sure how it could change that fast, but it is the same doctor he has been going to for years.

i just got mine examined recently for that reason... however, i've been wearing my left lens for over 4 months, now. i've ordered new ones, but they're not here yet.
i take them out every night, tho, & disinfect them. they last a LOT longer that way!

I wish my headaches where that easy to fix! Good to know that you'll be getting some relief from them - or at least not get as many now.

My father's eyes did that too. Not sure how that happens....could probably look it up and find out but I'm not that interested at this time.

My optometrist sent me a reminder in the mail just the other day. It's cute - it has Garfield sitting on Jon (in bed) pulling his eyelid back and says "Now that I have your attention".
I should get my prescription checked, but I don't think it's changed much - maybe that's finally slowed down.
I'd like to get contacts, before I didn't want them because I'd have to use eye drops. lol

My eyes themselves are fine, that was recently checked by another optometrist last November because I was having horrible eye pain. Dry eye
I couldn't avoid drops after all.
As to why I hated drops. I had a cat scratch my eye at age 6. Had to have a patch, stingy/burning drops, and annoying eye checks.

I am overdue for an eye exam though....
