Hi,
I'm new to the forum, so please forgive me if this has been discussed before. I'm considering getting an automatic litter box. My cat, Gypsy, is 11 years old and a very sweet, "fluffy" kitty--so she would need a larger litter box.
Has anyone invested in an automatic litter box? What brand? Would you recommend it? Pros and cons? Any information is welcome. I've been cleaning out her litter box for 11 years now and I think I'd like to make it easier on myself and cleaner for her. Thanks!

ive looked into some myself but they all seem kinda small. My kitty has a HUGE litter box so thats the main reason why i backed off. A coworker loves hers, she got it like a year ago and she loves it. Hopefully some one can give you more info

Welcome to TCS!

Here's another recent thread discussing them: http://www.thecatsite.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=154312

We heard many people had problem with littermates, and most automatic boxes are constructed with that kind of rake system.

The litter robot is very expensive - but SO worth the investment. We have several large kitties, and they're roomy enough. They're easy to clean, and they don't seem to break.

We put ours next to the litterbox for about two weeks, then took away the regular box. Everyone uses the litter robot without a problem.

After much research, I've settled on getting the litter robot (due to reports of good customer service and how well the box works..if you can get your cats to use it). It is expensive, so I'll have to wait a while to save up the $$...$300 is a lot, but is not bad if it works as it claims and, especially if you consider that the less reliable ones (littermaids) go for around $190, etc...I'd rather pay $300 for one that I won't have to replace frequently.

One down-side to the LR is that it is taller than the other boxes, so you have to have somewhere to put it...not as easy to hide as a littermaid or regular box.
