People annoy me sometimes

Somebody left a post on my blog this morning on a photo of Lily showing her Soft Claws. They said:

Quote:
Poor cat. This is such a stupid thing to do. Cats are meant to use their claws. If you dislike it, don't get a cat.
Then they just left another comment on another photo:

Quote:
Poor cat, really. I hope you'll get one day bored with this cruelty.
This is all too stupid.
Claws are included in a cat, don't with it, please.
How rude is that???! I've had to enable comment moderation now because this person is an idiot.

sounds like someone is just bored. (them, not you)

I just don't understand why you'd come back to a blog, and find another photo to say the same thing. Must be REALLY bored. They obviously have never had a cat who's needed them either...

I know it's hard, but try to ignore them.

I had similar problems a few years ago with my guestbook on my website. The old host didn't allow guestbook moderation so whatever people posted showed up right away. Well, some people from an old community I was involved in years ago took to spamming my guestbook and harassing me. When I was looking for a new web host, one of the features that I looked for was a moderated guestbook that also records IP Addresses.

Initially after I changed hosts there was still harassment being posted in my guestbook, but because it was now moderated the comments didn't get through. And my suspicions about who was doing it were bang on! I didn't confront them, just my knowing who they were and the fact that they couldn't do it anymore was enough for me I wasn't going to feed into their sickness and confront them about it.

I think a moderated blog is the best way to go. While you still have to read the comments, it being moderated will take the wind out of many people's sails and they will be less likely to make such dumb posts. They do it for the attention and if they aren't getting it, they move on.

For the record, I think the soft claws look adorable!! Very fashionable actually.

I'll never understand why people think soft paws are a bad thing. "Poor cat can't hurt you or the furniture anymore.". How is that a bad thing?

Some people are just lacking in the brain....

What in the heck? Some people don't make any sense.

What a sound, well-thought out argument stating their case.

Either do your best to ignore it, or find another host where you can moderate this stuff.

Some people ARE just lacking in the brain! I'm sorry they happened across your blog.

The comments sound appropriate for someone who had her cat declawed, not put Soft Claws on! What a jerky thing to write.

I'm just going to throw something out there: is it possible that this person simply hasn't heard of soft paws before? I know I didn't know about them a few years ago.

LOL! This is what I thought!

Reminds me a bit of some people on here getting mad because some people bathe their cats or choose to dress them up for a few moments for pictures.

You know the soft paws help, that they don't harm your cats at all, and are rather cute on some kitties. So what does some stranger's opinion mean?

that is very rude!

How rude can people be? Is it possible to block that user from visiting your blog? If so, I would do it. It's not worth getting too upset over it though, it's just someone who's incredibly bored, lacking in brain and just looking to wind you up. Rune and I have been considering having SoftPaws, or SoftClaws - whatever they're called - put on Bootie and Tosca temporarily so that we can have the floors fixed up without them being ruined again before we sell the apartment. We could never have our babies declawed - it's barbaric and unneccessary. So this is a fantastic option for us (if I can find somewhere that does them, of course). Rather that than finish up paying the earth to keep re-doing the floors!!

Hmmmm, well within that logic..humans weren't born with clothing on. Maybe we should just start walking around naked because thats how it was meant to be.

In my sassy 20's, my favorite pin that I wore on my favorite short denim jacket, said "I refuse to get into a war of words with an unarmed person".
Hah..snicker

If you hadn't heard of them, would you specifically go trawling for photos of them to say stupid things about them?

I just find it weird that someone would go to the effort of searching for photos (these blog posts are from early last year), commenting, then finding more photos to comment again on something they seem pretty uneducated on.
