Hi All,

I'm wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction re a template for a petition.

A friend of mine who is very ill cares for a cat colony across the street from where he lives. He owns a co-op in Queens, NYC. Because he is ill, a Board member suggested he write a petition to submit to his Board about acknowledging the colony and the benefits having these little guys around. (This would ultimately protect the colony from outsiders who would hurt these little fellows.) For example, the cats keep unwanted rats away, etc. The colony has been there for many years and is part of the neighborhood "family."

Does anyone have any information on something like this and how to write a petition like this?

You might try the Attorney General's office in NYC. I'd try there first to find out who is best sent this petition, and then they may also be able to advise you on what it needs to include.

I'd also talk to the local rescue agencies in the area, or try any local activist/environmental agencies to see what a petition needs to include and how it is most effective. I think most of them would be willing to help you by telling you what it needs to include, at least, to be effective.

I do know that email petitions are not effective due to the nature of email.
