Cat losing fur on tail

My 2 year old furry cat is losing his fur on the end of his tail. At the very tip of his tail, fur has just vanished. You can even see the bone or whatever you call it very visibly. It is not a big problem, though I would like to know if there is something I can do for him. Maybe some kitty rogaine or something. It is just a little unsettling to look at, yet along feel when I rub his tail. He doesn't do any horseing around with any other cat or really pull at his fur. It is just a mystery I guess. Any solutions?

If you can actually see the bone, then I would suggest you contact the vet. While some cats do pull at their fur, you don't normally see bone. As this is a new condition as well, a vet visit is definitely in order.
