Just because I think my Sammie is BEAUTIFUL, I thought it would be fun to have a thread dedicated to our wonderful tabby babies!

Please feel free to post all your beautiful tabby pics here. And if anyone wants to know the folklore story of why a tabby is marked with an M on his/her forehead, let me know. I loved the tale.

I've had PM's asking about the story of the M on the tabby forehead, so here goes.

Folklore says that when in the manger, the baby Jesus was fretful and crying and Mary could not settle him down, despite her many efforts. Finally a tabby cat climbed next to him and curled up. He immediately stopped crying.

Mary was so grateful, she leaned over and kissed the tabby on his/her forehead. And thus, lore has it, all tabbies forevermore would carry the blessed M on their foreheads.

Whether you are religious or not, still a wonderful story. We love our tabbies!

It is also said that Muhammed had a very faithful cat, and the "M" on the tabby forehead is for Muhammed.

Also, it is said that man knows 999 names for God, but only the cat knows the 1000th name, and that is what he is contemplating when he sits and "meditates" with his eyes partly closed.

Very cool! No matter how you shake it, tabbies are very special.
