When did you think they were due? It seems like you thought you had a couple of weeks left, is that right? Just wondering, because I was kind of gauging when Pennie is due by others on this board. Did she have all of the typical symptoms before delivery? Sorry to sound nosy, just waiting, myself!!

They seem to be. I tried expressing milk from one of her nipples and got nothing, but the kittens are all latched on...so I'm assuming they're having more success than I did.

Funny thing: I picked my son up from school early so he could see the last 2 kittens be born. He was fascinated by the whole thing, but when she was done I told him to leave Houdini alone so she could rest. To which he responded : "Why is she so tired? She's just been lying there."

I was expecting them around the 15th of the month. This was just an estimate from our vet since she showed up on our doorstep pregnant so we have no idea when she conceived.

The weird thing is, I just started feeling the kittens move only a week ago and their activity was nothing like Dill's or Sophie's...so I thought we had at least another week to go.

And she had no signs of impending birth like some of the other cats described here-- No discharge, no enlarging of the birth canal, no aggressive behavior. She was just meowing a lot this morning and following me around. She was only content when I would sit right next to her while she was in her birthing box (inside a closet in her room which has a toddler gate on the door to keep out the dog and kids).

I couldn't sit there all day, so I made up a little bed (with no top) and put it under my computer table in the kitchen. I kept petting her with my foot (I thought she was sleeping) then I heard a little mew and looked in the box and saw a kitten!! She proceeded to have the rest right under the table with the dog snooping in from time to time. Also there was a long time in between kittens (from 20 minutes to 1 hour).

She's just sleeping right now and all the kittens are nursing.

The last picture is my favorite!
The picture with the dog peeping in is cute too, and is my next favorite.

I haven't even checked! This is my first experience with a cat giving birth, so I'm a little reluctant to pick up the kittens just yet since they are all latched on. Right now Houdini is sleeping, but when she gets up to eat or use the litter box, I will change her bedding and try to sex the kittens. Is it obvious which is a boy and which is a girl at this stage?

Here is a link to help you determine gender... it can be really difficult, especially the first few weeks of their lives.

With both of the litters Twix had it was very easy to tell and I got them all right (two girls, four boys in the first litter, two girls, three boy in the second). That was about the third day or so. However, it might have been since I hadn't read up on sexing them and didn't have any information in my head...who knows if I could still do that now
