Because students should have guns at school, principals should beat children...

and, a great number of the cases from 1957 aren't true anyway. Like, if Pedro isn't learning English, a summer of immersion ain't gonna send him to college. Total immersion doesn't work- that's why it's been banned before. Nobody charges teachers with being a sexual predator for hugging people.

Have you posted this before, or have I just seen it so many times?

Seems to me we have had it here before -- or something very similar.

Your 2007 scenarios are way extreme. If a child brings a gun to school. Schools go on lock down then the child is expelled. If students get into a fight, the are suspended, no need for the SWAT team. If a child is disruptive they are sent to the office, that has not changed. All medicines are are given out by the school nurse, again no need for the police. Now if that aspirin bottle has an illegal drug in it, then yes call the drug enforcement officer. If "Padro" fails English he still goes to summer school... that hasn't changed either. If a child is playing with firecrackers the SWAT team is not called. Finally, if a child falls on the play ground and gets hurt, teachers still reassure the student and send them to the nurse. Hugging a student does not land teachers in jail. But it is true teachers have to be more careful these days. But that is more int he middle and high school levels. Elementary students are much more likely to come running over for a hug.
I'm sorry I'm a teacher and do not find stuff like this amusing.

Yep! I actually think it was the same email, and as there seems to be little to add, I'm moving this to "Breaking Mews"

Wow, talk about polar opposites. Both are way too much on the opposite ends.
