on a side note, nothing wrong with wearing a mini skirt, if the lady has the legs for it.
I agreee (well, not with the legs part
). I definitely don't think it was right for they to assult her, and I do think they should be punished, but each culture is different and each has their own set of rules of what is accepted and what is not.
I went on vacation to Yap (an island in Micronesia) and one rule I was given is if I was outside of the resort, I had to cover up my thighs either with long shorts down to my knees (they will accept females knees if you are a tourist) or preferably with a skirt or sarong. However, if I wanted to go topless that was absolutely acceptable and no one would think twice! I thought they were joking, but I went to the local market one day and saw many topless island women with skirts down to their ankles. Now, I don't think I would have been attacked if I walked around in a bikini, but one time I did go shopping with shorter shorts than were acceptably and was definitely given the cold shoulder. It is a matter of that culture.
That being said, I do agree that attacking her is unacceptable and they should be punished. But I'm not holding my breath. It does sound like the female community in South Africa is becoming more westernized...I just hope they don't lose their culture.
