This news ruined everyone in Wisconsin's day!

http://packers.com/breaking_news/

Words can't express his "greatness" level and how much of a good man he is on and off the field.....

He left with his dignity. The Packers are well under the cap even before adding the $13 million Favre would have made this year to the mix. But man, who could ever live up to the standard that has now been set?

I had public radio on so I didn't hear the news until I dropped off some donations at Goodwill (just a couple miles from Lambeau Field). I should have driven by to see if the flags were at half mast.....

All I can say at this time is WOW, didn't see that coming.

I was really expecing another year. After the good year they had last year, I expected him to give it one more try. He was a great player, and the game won't be the same.

(Wisconsin Vikings fan here, now we have a chance again!)

But I do admire Brett and wish him the best.

He might not being playing for the Packers anymore and leaving the NFL, but I think we'll see him surface up somewhere football related (college football maybe?)
