Babe: Pig in the City (1998)
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0120595/

Having enjoyed the first installment in the Babe series, I thought that Babe: Pig in the City would be a terrible sequel, so I avoided it for many years. After doing some research on cult films and this one kept popping up again and again. After watching it this weekend I realized why it didn't do well at the box office, and why it didn't get good reviews. It's not a children's movie. Babe: Pig in the City is a very dark film, and I can see why parents were upset by it. Animals are put in very difficult situations, one has a near death experience, and the over all theme of the film would be difficult for a six year old to grasp. Seeing it as an adult and being alone while watching it; Babe: Pig in the City made me uncomfortable. I found myself laughing in parts where had I been in a theater filled with little kids I would have been horrified.

With that being said, Babe: Pig in the City isn't a bad film. Yet, I can see why it didn't do well. It's difficult to market a film with talking animals as the cast to an adult audience. Especially when the first film did so well, and really was an age appropriate film for a six year old. So if one is going to rent this... stop for a second. Do you plan on watching it with children? If you do please screen this first. It may be a bit much for a child to take.

Shaolin Soccer (2001)

I'm not a huge fan of sports spoof films, but Shaolin Soccer was a laugh out loud riot. Brought to you by the same director as Kung Fu Hustle it goes places that are making me smile just thinking about it. Rarely when a character says, "Oh that makes me want to break out and dance!" Do I think, "PLEASE DO SO! Dance your heart out! Oh, and if you could sing a terrible pop song along with it that would be great!"
Shaolin Soccer not only does that, but more than once, and it's funny every time.

Trust me on this. If you are having a bad day; please rent this movie.
