Yep, Stinkie is a genious!
Seriously though, he is very smart. When he is doing something he shouldn't or heading in a direction he shouldn't all I have to do is say "stinkie no" and he'll stop and look at me. Then I can shake my head "no" or say "no" again and he'll stop doing it & turn back around to go back to where he was, then lay back down. Another example - stinkie always goes to the bathroom with me when I take a shower. Well the other night, I opened the cabinet door and he sat in front of it & started washing his butt before I closed it back. I said "tink I can't close the cabinet door back". He stopped washing, got up, moved over a little, sat back down & went back to washing. Now sure, I guess that one could be a major coincidence. But I'd rather choose to think that my cat is a genious. lol. Other examples - when he wants inside he knocks on the front door or pushes open the back screen door; when he wants out he is able to open the screen door with his claws & go out; if the doors are closed and/or locked & he wants out he'll stare at the door knob (doesn't always do him any good though because I don't let him out at night). And I swear he once said "mama" but that's another story. I'm beginning to sound crazy now so I guess that's enough bragging on stinkie. I can't help it! I love him! He's my baby!

Stinkie is smart, and he doesn't mouth off like my two! When I say "No" I get a "Meep?" from Oliver like he's asking "Why?" and a "MROW!" from Rocky like he's saying, "You're not the boss of me, Meowmy!"

Stinkie does sound very smart !

I thought i was the only person who thought their cat understood what i was saying ...... I am glad i am not alone !!

My Pickles will sit on my computer monitor with his tail hanging down infront of the screen - i know he does this as an attempt for attention -- BUT when i tell him i cant see the screen he starts wagging his tail back and forth so i can see parts of the screen , then i tell him that isnt working ,,, he gets up , and sits on the tower part of the desk and kind of sighs very loudly at me.

Reading these Forums i am learning that my cats are pretty normal -- hehe

my family always thought i was nuts when i told them chloe said "mama," "no," "why," "yeah," and "please." however, when i moved back down here and they were around chloe and heard her speak they were absolutely amazed at how smart she was. i quickly pointed out that their dumb dogs didnt do that heehee

My Scooter talks to me. He says "feed me now, mama, and no." Otherwise he just gives me dumb looks. I love my kitties, but they are not the smartest ones I have ever had.
