At first Otis was fine, and he was chasing it along with mirabelle- but then he got freaked out and went into the bed room. The other cat was fine...although funny to watch, we got it for their enjoyment. Any ideas?

someone told me once that if you use a regular laser pointer it creates a shadow or reflection which cats find irritating (maybe to their eyes...?). pet stores have special laser pointers for cats that don't produce this effect. if this is the case you may want to consider trading in the regular one for the "pet specific" one.

The One we got today was from petsmart. At first he started to play with it, then he got freaked out and hid in the bedroom. He has come out a little bit, but has stayed in the room most of the night. The other cat loves it, but he just stays away from it. Any insight?

It's probably because it's something so new and different. Maybe when he sees your other cat playing with it he'll get more involved.

One trick is to end the laser play with the pointer on some other toy, so the cats don't get frustrated at not ever catching it.

Going up the walls and over the ceiling really lights the fire under Sterling.
