How often nshould I replace litter box?

I haven't seen this one answered. I have 2 cats, one litter box (yes yes, I know, but I live in a teeny tiny apt), and it feels like that's a lot of wear and tear on one box! I clean it frequently with soap and water, but wonder if every few years you should just throw the whole thing out and start over...? If anyone has any thoughts on that, let me know! Have you tried used litter box liners? That way you don't have to scrub the litter box and it makes changing the litter a breeze.

Before I began using the liners, I always kept the same litter boxes. I guess if you see a reason to replace them then go for it.

I had 2 cats, one box, and I had to get a new one after 8 months. No matter how I scrubbed it just never got rid of the lingering odor. As soon as I got the new one, there was no smell at all.

They do get scratched and hold the odor more after a while. If it is a covered box, be sure to replace the filters also.

I've used the same litter boxes for more than a year - Nature's Miracle removes ALL the odor when used to clean the boxes, so I don't bother using anything else.

Unless the box gets too scratched up (I have a couple of serious diggers) I see absolutely no reason to replace it.

I keep my boxes until they look bad. I've had all of mine for at least 5 years and no odour.

Thanks so much! I do have a covered one - one of my cats does not pee in the litter, he just stands there and sprays - and tho it's not in the greatest condition I may be able to keep on deck a little longer with Nature's Miracle. Never tried liners, another good idea. Thanks everyone!
