OK - I had a laparoscopic hysterectomy December 14. The surgery itself went well. But a bad abdominal infection set in and put me back in the hospital for almost 5 days. As I have healed up - some of the pain and discomfort has gone away. But not all. I ache in there, boy do I ache. Like the uterus was never taken out. Can't sit for long periods of time, cannot sleep on my side or back. Other disruptive things, too, that I won't elaborate on here.

Back to see the surgeon - I have a full range of lab tests and an ultrasound tomorrow. My brother, who is a doctor, speculated that I could have adhesions. They are not uncommon, but really, there is nothing one can do for them except ---- more surgery. I hope it is something else that doesn't require being cut open.

Sigh.... what a a drag to trade one set of problems for another.

I don't know what I hope. I don't want to go under the knife again.

I'm so sorry... I had a lap-band procedure a month ago, and I've had a few odd pains that have unnerved me at times, but nothing so severe as what you describe. I hope they're able to find some easy solutions for you tomorrow.

Talked to the nurse in the surgeon's office. Lab and ultrasound did not show anything abnormal. So this becomes a process of elimination in terms of what is causing the problem... and the most likely culprit are adhesions. I have an appt with my doctor on the 18th.

If he tells me I have to be cut open again, even a laparascopic procedure, I think I will just bust out crying.

Awww I am so sorry but if they have to cut you open again hopefully the pain will go away.

I'm so sorry you're going through this. After my heart surgery, when I was having pains and problems, my one big fear was them having to reopen - I understand how scary the thought is.

I hope you don't have to go through surgery again

I had pains and twitches after my hysterectomy. Your body goes into such shock and has to rebalance itself. In my case it worked itself out. I still went to the doctor and had everything checked out.. I hope you feel better

Boy, don't I know it! I only had the uterus removed laparascopically - due to massive fibroids. But my first question to the gyno last visit was - 9 weeks post surgery is all this aching and twinges and pain and pressure normal? He said no.

I had a lot of scar tissue related problems before and after surgery. I do remember going to a specialist after my surgery because of all the issues. They had talked about doing some procedure for the scarring. It never came to that for me. My hysterectomy was 20 years ago when I was 28 years old. They removed my uterus the old fashioned way by cutting me open. They sure have advanced since mine was done. Thank god I didn't get a bad scar from mine... You can hardly see it

Fighting for ferals in NW NJ!
Oh sweetie, I'm so sorry! This totally sucks.

I hope they figure out what it is - soon - and that it won't entail more surgery!

I know it's scary to think of being opened up again, but... even if that happens, it should be a little easier this time, don't you think? No organs to remove, no huge hormonal upheaval... just the release of the adhesions, which should make you feel so much better! I know it wouldn't be easy, but maybe it wouldn't be quite so bad as the first time... do you think?

I'll be thinking good thoughts for you, hon...
