Anyone know what they're for?? Jax doesn't seem to be able to jump, and he's perfectly healthy! He never really learned I guess. He's always "asking" me to put him up where ever he needs to go! So now Im wondering if the pads on the upper back feet might be for jumping?? Any Ideas??

I didn't explain that very well! The one pad on the back of his paw got frostbit and came off, but its the one at the very top!

I dont know if he's just a big baby and like me putting him up there, or if he just can't jump.... Its not really a big deal, I dont mind putting him where he needs to go, I just wonder if there isn't a reason for it!

From what I understand, those pads are used for assisted stopping from a full run - they create added friction on slippery floors, for example.

But then again - some cats seem to like the sudden stop against cabinets or walls...you'd almost think they do it on purpose...like little adrenaline junkies.
