Nuh uh...might give me away!
Recently, my husband and I were asked to consider playing WoW by friends of ours. Now, I'm not a huge gaming person myself (I can't even get far into an E for everyone 10+ PS2 game), but it seems that WoW is more than that.

My biggest experience with anything that is considered "addictive" has been Neopets.

I guess my question is this...were you a gamer (e.g., you could actually get past level 3 on the first Mario game) before WoW, and if not, are you still really into WoW?

I've never played WoW, but I used to be addicted to EverQuest back in the day. Unless you have endless hours to spend on the computer and want to get no sleep at night, I don't reccomend it. It's one of those things that works in real time, so you can't "pause" it and start the next day. And you're playing with people from all over the world, so it might be evening to someone you're with, but it's like 4am to you... I don't know, I just had to quit because it took "real life" away from me.

hmm, i never really found wow addictive. but I have never really found anything addictive.

If you like RPG style games or liked the dilabo games, you would i think like world of warcraft. I have played since the game first came out. I took about 8 months off and having fun again.

they have made some changes to the game, levels 1-50 are much more easy. There end game still sucks. but up to level 70 the game is alot of fun.

I love the graphics of WoW, but not the online, chatting part. It does take away from real time and I like the games like Heroes V where I can save and walk away. I don't need other people to keep me entertained.

lol you can turn the chat off. (which is what i do) , all games take away from teh real world, which is why we play them. SO do books.

The part i dont like about wow, and other mmo style games,
is you will always need help to do some things, making the game very social, Which is why i only really play with friends i know in the real world

I guess what I meant was WoW is constantly going in real time. There is no stopping. With the other games, I can save and know I won't miss anything.

I think they want us to play for the social aspects of it. They want to play the game with people they actually know. They say it's more fun that way. I'm *thinking* about it, but DH is so against it himself. He's really not into those types of things.

I really don't know if I could be, and rather than spend the money finding out, I'm learning some things from the responses to this.

What do you mean get past level three in Mario?! I'm still on one!

Well, I for one, do not like WoW. It takes too much time and effort to get it going with your character. Besides, I also hate subscriptions but my DH likes it. I prefer Guild Wars. It's free online play, the graphics are much more realistic and you don't have to spend over 500 hours to get to a high level. Plus it has, so far, 3 storylines (countries) and a part two in one of them, Guild Wars 2: Eye of the North (GW:EN)

Plus, the dances are different for every job class and for male and females. They're cool to watch!

I've been a gamer ever since I can remember, yeah, WoW can be addictive, if you let it.
I don't let it, but I am addicted to gaming i general.
I play WoW maybe 3 hours a day, usually less.
Oft-times I only play in the mornings while I have my coffee.
