I started my cat on Royal Canin Veterinary CC High Fiber food for his ulcerative colitis, and it's working wonderfully. After a year of struggling with diet and various medications, he's finally medication- and symptom-free. Not to mention happy with the food and leaner than he used to be.

My problem is that my vet doesn't carry Royal Canin in-house, so they order it through VetstoreRX, which is excellent but charges $20-$35 in shipping and taxes.

I was wondering if anyone else had an online supplier for Royal Canin prescription food that charges low shipping fees, or low prices for the food itself? I looked at Pet Food Direct and their shipping does seem to run about $10 cheaper, but $20 is still a lot.

If I can't find an online alternative, I may start calling around to different local vets to see if any stock Royal Canin. But I like my cat's vet and want to stick with continuity of care.

I did look at the site, but as far as I can tell the company doesn't sell direct.

You should be able to get a food somewhere else but still stick with your vet for care. I got a royal canin prescription food from another vet. My vet just wrote me a prescription for it. I called around until I found a vet that carried it. My vet was not upset I didn't buy the brand they carry and the clinic I bought it from was really nice about it and helpful. They didn't seem to mind I wasn't a client. If you have a petsmart you might try the clinic there. The clinic at my local store didn't carry the specific formula I needed but they had several other royal canin prescription foods.
