maybe some of you remember my post a few weeks ago about my girl cat, Angel. She had the polyps in her ear and the crusty stuff that seeped out. Well, after a vet visit that yielded no results other than she does not have ear mites, I got a 2nd opinion from the vet that my parents go to...I LOVE this vet, she's wonderful at explaining things to those who may not understand the vet terminology. After the exam, she told me that the only way to know 100% what was going on in Angel's ear was to put her under to get deeper in and check it out. Angel had a HUGE polyp way down in her ear canal. The vet wanted to remove it and I said go ahead. That polyp was blocking her ear canal, which was resulting in the infection...I guess like what was going in her ear was unable to come out. The polyp was sent to a lab to be tested for cancer, and Angel is on Prednisone and Clavamox for the time being. She has a recheck on the 6th, hopefully the results are back by then. I'm praying it's fine and benign. I'm so glad I sought a 2nd opinion! So after 2 different vets, and $340...I know whats been going on. The clicking was fluid, the crusty stuff was the infection. So long as there's no cancer, she'll be just fine! Thanks to all of you for the suggestions and personal experiences. I've learned that sometimes a 2nd opinion just may be a lifesaver.
Also wanted to add that she is deaf in that ear.
