So for the last 3 weeks Turbo has been sounding like he is trying to cough up a hairball-horrible sounds!! I took him to work with me for the vet to take a look at, we took xrays ans saw nothing spectacular. The vet recommended that we try Pancreved a pancreatic enzyme to help "eat away" the hairball. We did that for 5 days, and no improvment. I took him back in to work with me yesterday to keep an eye on him and so the vet could see what it was he was doing. So far he just lays in his little bed in his cage and sleep, no coughing or anything. We are all stumped as to what to do next but poor Turby looks miserable sometimes. So if you have a few extra good thoughts send them Turby's way so that he can feel better and we can figure out what it is that is bothering his little system. If it is a hairball it is going to be one hell of a prize winner when it finally comes up!!!

I'm certainly no expert, and this is just my opinion, but Turbo could have asthma.
Or, and I hate to say the "F" word (FIP, that is), but your description of what Turbo's doing sounds exactly like what Winchester & Geronimo do when they have one of their "attacks". They both were diagnosed with the dry form of FIP, and are on a drug called Interferon to help keep them in remission. There are two forms of FIP - the dry form & the wet form. The dry form can be treated, but the wet form is fatal. You might want to ask your vet to check into the possibility of FIP or asthma...

I hope it's nothing serious.
Keep us updated!

Plenty of blessings & vibes coming your way for Turbo.

i am suspicious of asthma, since his lungs looked a little funky, but Uno has asthma and it does not sound the same. As far as FIP, i am pretty sure that this is unlikly as I have seen kitties with that disease and there is no fever in Turby and other than feeling a little under the weather he seems fine, but always something to consider. Thanks

Geronimo & Winchester didn't have any symptoms of anything else, either (i.e. no fever, etc.). They just had the recurring coughing which wasn't being cleared up with antibiotics and other drugs my vet tried, and they had that "under the weather" look about them; other than that, they seemed just fine. Which is why I mentioned the dry FIP; your description of what's ailing Turbo sounds like the same thing...

Keep in mind that the dry FIP can be treated - the wet form can't be (not for long, anyway). I'm not saying Turbo does have the dry form, but it's something to consider. If it is the dry form, the sooner it's caught, the better, b/c your vet can treat it. And the sooner Turbo gets on the Interferon (or whatever your vet may treat him with) the better it is for him..

Just my opinion, and something to consider..
I hope it's NOT FIP..

After spending several days at the vet under close supervision, he never once coughed or made any attempt to bring anything up.!!! We sedated him yesterday and looked in the back of his throat just to make sure we were not missing anything-other than his tonsils being a little swollen he looked fine. We took more chest x-rays to rule outh asthma or foreign bodies-both came up clear. We placed him on Theophylline and Baytril to rule out the asthma/allergy route and we will try that for 2 weeks. We are thinking maybe it is a houshold allergy, but will see if meds help. I asked about FIP and my vet said probably not suspicous of that for right now. When I brought him home last night he spent hours running through the hous making sure everything was in it's place, and so far today he seems ok, eating well and whatnot, so who knows-maybe all he needed was a mini vacation! Thanks for all the good thoughts-I bet that is what did it.

I'll continue to send plenty of good vibes your way that it isn't FIP, and that whatever's ailing him isn't anything serious and he continues to improve..
