I don't know if this merits its own thread or not - but we figured out a way to bring Tuxedo home!!!!!

Many of you know Gary and I live in an RV. We already have three cats living in here. They've worked it all out and there are no territory disputes. :tounge2: We've emptied out cabinets, created different levels in as many places as we can, so they have MUCH more "space" in which to sleep and romp around than Gary and I do.

(Gary grumps about the loss of all "his" surfaces.
)

We just couldn't figure a way for a fourth kitty in here. But we figured a way last night!

Our "bed" is actually hinged, and lifts up for storage space. Under the couch has a drawer, also storage space. If we clear out everything from those spaces, loose the drawer, and cut a hole in the base of the bed, we'll have (almost) doubled the size of the bedroom available to the cats (because the bedroom is ALMOST all bed), and we can place another litterbox under the couch. It was really the litterbox problem that stumped us for so long. But we can put up a divider under there, and Tuxedo will have his own "space" in the living room, too. I'm sure the cats will work out who gets priority where.... (Lazlo will probably claim under the bed and let Tuxedo have the topside).

But until we get a larger RV (which we're thinking of doing) or move into an apartment (which we're probably not doing) - it looks like we'll be able to bring Tuxedo home.

We're planning on leaving him at the boarding facility for another few days. Susan (the Cat Chalet owner) says he's letting her pet him. And he's using the litterbox.

A little happy news for Gary.

Oh - one last thing. Thanksgiving is TOTALLY comfortable at the Cat Chalet. Susan opens her cage door, and she has the run of the place. She is friendly to everyone who comes by and to the other cats, and Susan is certain Thanksgiving will find new parents REAL soon.

This is great, Laurie! What about buying the farm? Let's hold off until you can get what I fear you'll be needing soon!!
In the meantime, couldn't you and Gary put up a tent and sleep outside? It sounds to me as if your "poor" kitties need more drawer space!
Spring is almost here, and maybe Lazlo and the gang would let you cook in the house if you shared your dinner.......Just a suggestion.

Laurie, now that you're officially of the many "crazy cat ladies" here, what does that make Gary? A "crazy cat laddie"?

Laurie, I am so happy for you, things are finally working out.

I was also going to suggest a tent for you to live in, obviously the cats will own the RV.

As for more practical suggestions:
Just keep two set of clothing for each of you, save on storage space.
Consider putting the whole family on the same diet, save on kitchen storage space - tuna, anyone?
If you switch from showers to sponge baths, you can convert that tall space into a wonderful cat condo.
How tall are you anyway? You might build a loft in the rv, with ladders, for the cats to run around upstairs. How much time do you spend standing up anyway?

Hope these ideas help.

That's what I love about our site. We are always willing to help.
I think you have all offered some excellent ideas. I do hope that Laurie appreciates and implements these new plans.

LOL! I'm in tears I'm laughing so hard!

We've been going through the closets, removing all clothes that don't fit because we've gained weight. We've boxed up almost all the books and put them in storage. Gary has agreed to go through all the "electronics" he's hoarded these last number of years (endless amounts of cable and connectors) - we have bags and boxes of them in our pass-through compartments outside and under the bed.

It's going to take us another week or so to clear out room. Which works - because Tuxedo is scheduled for a bath and groom late next week. Maybe next weekend he comes home? Oooo - I get chills thinking about it.

It's still a little chilly for the tent.... but if the cats can live outside, I guess we can, too - right?

Poor Gary. Loosing more of his "surfaces."

Oh - well - taking your advice, I guess we can get rid of everything in the pantry too! Then we'll be able to swap out all the clothes that don't fit because they're too big, and we can grab out of storage all the clothes we just put there because we've lost weight and they fit again!

I'm glad you're being practical about this space problem, Laurie. Good thinking.

After reading all this, and getting a very good **snicker** at Laurie's expense, I have come to realize one thing. I have to visit you and see this in person!!!

Hmmm...wonder where I can get a cheap car rental and flight?????
