Dry fur on tail

Jack's coating is really changing since he's been on the Nutro now for more than 2 months--but the fur on his tail seems so dry. Is it possible that, that fur just hasn't shown the affects of the new food yet? He's like silky smooth every where else.

How much does he groom his tail? Maybe he just grooms it a little more then the rest of his fur.
If the nutro doesn't seem to help his tail, you could look into getting a supplement for him such as fish oil (fresh water salmon).

I don't think he grooms his tail anymore than the rest of him--I'll watch a little more closely. He isn't a big groomer to begin with--perhaps because he was alone at such a young age on the streets (no mom or siblings around).

I agree, you can try adding a fish oil supplement. And if you are into it, you could bathe him and just really condition the heck out of his tail using a nice, thick, rich conditioner. You could even first give a hot oil treatment and then bathe and condition. Depends on how much you want to put into it.
