My cat rolls in litter...is it normal???

I have a female cat that likes to throw liiter out of the pan onto the floor and roll around in it. Is this normal, or is it some weird thing she is doing?? How do I get her to stop??

It sounds like she's just playing. As for getting her to stop, the only thing I can think of is to use a deeper litter box with a cover and make it hard to kick the litter out. You can also use a dry Dek mat or one of the one's shaped like a kitty and looks like the outdoor carpet outside the box so that the litter falls underneath and it's not there to roll in.

My cats LOVE to do that. They have enclosed litter boxes and will pick the litter up with there paw and throw it out so they can roll on it. I dont' know why. they are just silly like that!
