Whenever I am cleaning the litterbox (scooping) Raven has to be there and always jumps in and starts digging furiously. Why does she have to "help"?

Cats are beautiful and mysterious creatures whose habits and behaviors are never to be fully understood by us mere humans.

In other words, cats are weird.

LOL, I always think they just like using the "newly flushed" toilet
Either that or they don't think we are competent enough to clean it thoroughly without their help....

I have no idea, but you are not alone; Persi does the same thing. Maybe they actually do think they are helping?

Parrot does the same thing to me too. :p

Btw, a related question... two of my cats have a scratching problem, I guess you'd call it. Whenever they use the litter box, they scratch as if they're going to cover it, but they're way off the mark. They'll scratch at the floor or the walls nearby, but never in the litter itself. And they scratch forever! 10 minutes at a time; it drives me crazy having to listen to it. Why are they doing this?

They're following some mysterious inner drive...and they're driving you crazy! What more could a cat ask for?

But neither behavior is unusual.
