I hope I'm posting this in the right place, I wasn't sure which of the two rescue forums was most appropriate.
Over the past few days I have been trying everything to help two pregnant cats in my neighborhood - a Siamese and a tortie. Well with the help of quite a few wonderful ladies (some of which are from this very board) all over the state of Ohio all of the details of their rescue were coming together - which I'm sure many of you can appreciate is not an easy feat - and the only thing left to do was catch the cats. Both cats are friendly so this shouldn't have been much of an issue.
After work I immediately went to look for the cats. I was just about to get the Siamese girl when a horrible man walked up to me and said that she was his cat and to stay away from her. I asked him if it would be okay for "An Organization" to have her spayed - he said no. I asked him what he was going to do with her kittens and he said he didn't care about any kittens, and as far as he knew she had never had any kittens. I asked him if I could take her until her kittens were ready to be homed and then return her to him, he said no and to stay away from his cat. He also said that she didn't go inside ever. I am absolutely appalled and devastated! So many people have came together to help these cats and THIS is the ending we get?! When she was just a pregnant stray I didn't think her situation could be anymore dire, then this happens. It makes me ill to think of those tiny kittens who will most likely freeze outside, and if not they will be producing so many more homeless cats!
And to make matters worse I could not find the tortie today, please send prayers and good vibes that I am able to get her this weekend.
I am going to offer to buy the Siamese from the horrid man, and if he says no (which I sadly am quite sure he will) then I am calling the humane society and reporting him for animal cruelty.

Oh dear
Can you just grab the siamese when he is not around. If you can get her, and get her turned over to someone, he will never know, even if he suspects you. He'll never be able to prove anything b/c she an outdoor cat, she could have just taken off. He obviously isn't caring properly for his cat.

Where in Ohio are you?

Bless you for caring so much.

If this is the first time you have seen him, I would just grab the cat when he is not around and then deny everything! Cat? What cat?

exactly. The next time you see her, just take her. It doesn't sound like he could prove any ownership, it's not like he's ever taken her to the vet! (or at least I doubt it)

I tend to agree. Does he have ownership papers? I bet not. Does he have vet records? I also bet not.

When he is not looking - which would seem often - grab the meezer and run.

Good luck and God speed!
