my cat charli is 1 year old and today i noticed she has a lump in between her shoulder blades.i've pressed down on it and it doesn't seem to bother her too much, just wondering if anyone has any idea what it could be? do abcesses start off non-painful? any ideas?

thanks

Are you certain it's not a tick? I don't want to scare you needlessly, but it could be something serious like a tumor (e.g. vaccine-associated sarcoma), so it would be best to take her to the vet's.

Hello Iceangel,

I am going to agree with jcat here, it could be a tick, or possibly something else, your best bet is get kitty to the vet to have her examined. Keep us updated.

thnks for your help, i dunno...if it was a tick, would u be able to see the tick on the lump? the lump is about an inch across wide. there doesn't seem to be any wound on it ( or scab , if it was from a tick it would leave a bite mark rite?) it doesn't seem to bother her when i touch it, and shes eating and running around like normal. she doesn't even try to scratch it. do u think i should leave it for a week or so, and see if it goes away?

Iceangel,

An inch across? Eep. Umm..I would at least call the vet and tell them about it and see what they have to say about it. Most vets will consult over the phone. If they say wait, I would wait, but they may request seeing kitty sooner. I hope everything it ok.
