The Dickson City woman who starved her 9-month-old dog to death last
month, saying she was emotionally unable to care for it, received maximum punishment and minimum sympathy from District Justice John Pesota on Wednesday.
Calling the case "shocking and sad," Mr. Pesota sentenced Geraldine Mullin, of 1107 Dimmick St., to 90 days in the Lackawanna County Prison and ordered her to pay a $750 fine. He also found her guilty of two other counts of animal cruelty, involving another dog and cat in her care, and fined her a combined $300. Those animals, found left alone but in good condition by officers from the Humane Society of Lackawanna County, have since been placed in new homes.
