Looks like marking but no urine

My cat Wyatt, is a 5 year old nuetered ASH silver tabby. He has an odd habit of backing up to things and acting like he's marking them. He never has but I was wondering if this might lead to something serious in the future.

I'll be interested to hear what others have to say about this. Our RB boy Gryphon did that all the time, and you're right, no spray, ever.

I've had neutered/spayed cats do this. Most times they are just excited about something. As long as he's not really spraying I would not worry about it.

Was he a stud cat before you got him? If he shows any other signs of spraying or not peeing in the litter pan, have him checked for UTI right away.

My cat Kinks does the ALL THE TIME. She pretends to spray on EVERYTHING. You look at her the right way and she gets excited and "sprays" but thankfull nothing comes out!! I have heard that they still release scent when they do this but I don't know where I read that.
