Problem with avatars for my cats

I decided to buy a subscription a couple days ago because everyone here is so helpful and I'd like to support the community.

I've uploaded pics of my cats. But the avatars that appear next to my name still show the default images.

when I click 'edit' on my cat, the image references a bogus URL and results as a red 'x'. It's just pointing to a directory, not an image.

Is there a way to fix this from your end? i've repeated the steps numerous times and there isn't anything else I can see that I could do.

You can disregard. I figured out they have to be jpg due to image magik or whatever is resizing the pics.

I didn't see that mentioned. maybe you should put that in the instructions? or did I miss it?

A more knowledgeable person than I am will have to answer your question.
I always have someone help me do that kind of thing.
