Only 2 hours to go til I meet my new baby!
I'm going to meet 2 little handraised 9 week old kittens today to adopt one of them in 2 weeks...

There's a black and white boy and a tortie girl... I'm going to see which one comes to me.
They live around the corner from me so I'm going to be able to visit them a few times a week until kitty comes home with me so that they like me =]
I just hope I don't come home with both of them...

I'll post back in a few hours with details of my new kittyyy!!

Excuse my selfishness,
I just HAD to share my excitement with everyone!!

I just got home...

I decided not to hold either of the kittens
They just weren't right for me. They were very playful and not very cuddly at all... I need a cat that wants to cuddle all the time =]
So I'm looking into the possibility of a purebred at the moment. I'm going to post a topic with my breeds that I'm considering... If I can't find a suitable breeder then I'm just going to visit a shelter and choose between the hundreds there...

I guess it just wasn't meant to be!

I think you'll be hardpressed to find a 9 week old of any breed that wants to sit still.

Oh, I do know that, missymotus... but these ones just didn't feel right. I'm sure you know the feeling when you meet a cat and it wants to be with you, regardless of whether it "cuddles" or not...
these ones just didn't feel right. And that's a lot for me to say, considering I absolutely adore every cat I meet.

White cat lover, as I said before, if I don't find a suitable breed then I'll consider it a "not meant to be" thing and I'll go to the shelter.
I follow my intuition very much, and my intuition at the moment is telling me to look into breeders...

If it doesn't work out for you on the purebred front (and I'm currently trying to think of suggestions for your other thread!), try looking at slightly older shelter cats - by the time they're a year old their adult personality is apparent - it's very difficult to tell with kittens whether they're going to grow up to be cuddly as their personalities do change from that frantic play mode, some will calm down and become cuddly, others will be more of a 'look but don't touch' type but you won't see which is which from young kittens. My Radar was very cuddly as a kitten, but much more independent now and rarely comes to me for cuddles, although he does sleep on my feet sometimes.

But you did the right thing - if it didn't feel right, then it would have taken longer to form a bond which is not good for you or the kitten, you need to be sure that you're making the right choice as they will be with you for a long time

I think that when/if I go to the rspca I'll have one that comes to me =]
In the past there always has been.
I won't discriminate, ugly or pretty, old or young, if it feels right then it is

), the lady that I got them from actually said that Dusty was ugly! Like the mama! The mama cat was a georgeous tortie! dusty is georgeous too... just like her mama. But Rusty and Dusty came up to me to say hi... The other kitty was hiding.. They are very active but they do love to he cuddled too. Good luck finding that special kittty made just for you!

Do you think it's worth a try? I'd hate to disappoint the lady again... I felt so bad the first time! They just really didn't fit what I wanted... they were very climby which is always gorgeous, but I just didn't feel like they wanted to be around me... usually when I meet a kitten I love it seems like it connects with me, these ones didn't.

I am going to visit a Persian breeder on Saturday who has quite a few different aged babies still available. Probably little runts of the litter but I don't mind
I've always wanted a Persian... those ugly squished in faces... they're adorable!!
I spoke to her on the phone today and she understood completely that it wasn't a guarantee. I said "if one doesn't stand out and pick me, I won't get one" and she told me that she says the same thing to everyone who visits her
