Hey folks,
I have yet another litter question... I've been using feline pine scoop (since WBCL might be an allergin to one of my cats). But, it's waay too dusty for my taste... I don't like my cats walking around w/ pine dust on their faces.

So, I'm toying with the idea of trying out feline pine, but I have some reservations and hoped that you could help clear up some questions for me.

1. From what I read, the sifting litter box is definately worth it, but is having the regular feline pine in a regular box a pain to clean/take care of?

2. How many lbs, on average do you go through in a week per cat? I have three, so if I'd being going through it faster than my current litter, it might not be worth switching.

3. For those that now use stove pellets, do they work just as well on odor as the feline pine?

4. When it turns to dust, is the tracking as bad as the tracking from feline pine scoop?

Thanks,
Art

I have only used the sifting boxes.

I'm not sure how much I'm using now with 4 cats but I know when I had 2 a 20 lb bag lasted 6 weeks with me tossing out and completely replacing the pellets at 4 weeks (in addition to daily scooping of course).

Never used 'em.

With the sifting boxes, there is very little tracking. Mostly a few errant pellets that are easily swept up.

I was using Petco's version of Feline Pine - cats like it. But I just recently picked up a 40 lb bag of wood stove pellets and have mixed them with the FP - so far its working good. The wood stove pellets seem not to break down as quickly and so last a bit longer.

We have the litter box in the basement with indoor/outdoor carpeting near by. I haven't noticed much tracking with the pellets.

Thanks,

I'm definately thinking about trying the pellets in one litter box while still using the clumping in the other...If the cats take to it, I may opt for the fp sifting litter box, although it's not covered.

Be sure to follow the directions for switching to the pellets. When I got Jeta she obviously didn't have a clue what that box of pellets was for. After taking several days to switch, as per the instructions, she had had no problem with it.

When I switched them over from clumping litter to pellets, I added about a cup (scoop) of pellets to the clumping litter. As I cleaned it, instead of adding more litter, I'd add the pellets till it was changed over.
