That's what I say to my boyfriend when he's bad.

That's the most idiotic reason I've ever heard to not get a cat. Guhh! People are ridiculous!

We call my cat all sorts of things, and he never minds.
More my boyfriend than me. I call him my baby, or pretty boy. My boyfriend's are wayyy different, but all affectionate. My cat doesn't care as long as he gets his foods and his lovings.

I personally don't care if they are boys or girls. Appearantly its the special needs ones that like ME. If its got an issue... it will find me. I have personally never noticed a personality differance between male or female. Its more of an individual thing. I dont understand selecting a male or female unless you are a breeder.

(And when mine get yelled at, it is "BOYS AND GIRLS! What are you doing?")

That's so superficial. Honestly - was she looking for a cat to share her life with or an accessory? I've had both male and female cats, they so don't care what you call them, it's a human conceit. Course, then again, if she's like that would she have provided the cat a decent permanent home... He might be better off where he is, shelter or not!

That's soooo silly. I use the term "guys" meaning male and female. Its kinda common now and refers to both male and female in the group. We have a few elderly aunts that HATE when we say "come on guys, lets all go...." - they get upset and say "we are NOT guys" in a huffy voice

HA that's funnier than the story about the lady who adopted a black cat and a white cat from the county shelter because they matched her decor
. I wouldn't have adopted the cats to her if it were me, but county shelters just want the animals OUT most of the time.

Honestly, every time I think that I've heard it all about the sheer idiocy of some people when it comes to pets, someone comes along and posts a story like this that proves me wrong...
When will I ever learn that some peoples' nuttiness knows no bounds?

You know when I had only boys, I'd call them the boys. Now they are the babies. It's not that hard of a change to make. Frankly even if you didn't want to make that change cat's don't have a concept of gender. He would not be offended by being called a girl.

I also prefer boy kitties. It is always been my experience that boy kitties are a little bit more cuddlier than female. However, if I say a girl kitty that had all the traits I liked, I would not hold being a girl against her.

I wanted a girl because I have a pink litterbox.
Now I have a girl and a boy (and a pink litterbox).

After Brownie died, I went to the shelter to get another black male cat. Adults were fine. I guess I wanted to replace him. I came home with Butzie. She was everything I wanted. Ya know, there is no replacement for a cat, just another great kitty waiting for adoption and waiting for someone to love.

I've always had more luck with males than females. Specifically three males that I had were cuddly and lap-cats and snugglers, while the two females in particular were more aloof and not so affectionate. So I was thinking I should stick to males, but on the other hand, I know

- that's a small sample size

- what I really care about is that the cat is a lap-cat, so if I get adults who I know are already lap-cats, what difference does their sex(es) make?

- the two females were torties, and well, we all know about torties

I'm betting her "girls" are no more girls than that cat is a "boy."

Tell her the male cat is gay and WANTS to be called "girl!"

I have got used to having 2 girls (even though i find they get on better when I have one of each, but I dont pick my cats!), and when I have male fosters in the room, they just get called girls as well - and then I Realise and apologise. I do get a lot more calls for females than males, as people still think that boys will spray - they should meet my neighbours female, she has no issues with walking into my house and spraying cos she doesnt' like the smell of my cats.

People slay me! Maybe try telling her that he won't mind being referred to as a girl as long as he has a home?? Geeeeesh.

It took a long time for my mom to accept a male cat into her household, but that was because she had intact cats up North that sprayed and thought they would ALL do that. It wasn't until after I'd had Marrs for a few years and reassured her that he never did anything of the sort that she finally took in her big fluffy boy "Lucifer" and now you couldn't seperate her from him if you tried!

When I go looking for the next one I plan on looking for a boy (I think Bella would really terrorize another girl), but if I found a fabulous girl kitty that would fit in, I would take her in a
