Ok so me and my girlfriend have a new kitten, after his distemper/deworm shot he hasnt quite been the same since..its bee na few days now..he hasnt been eating well..we got him to eat a little..he comes up to us and gets right in our faces and makes it obvious he wants something..he will almost like try to meow but nothing comes out while other times he does make noise..but no matter what we try to give him whether it be more attention, a toy, food, water, nothing seems to be making him content..any ideas?

Cats are often "off" after shots for a while. Has he been sick at all? How many days is a few?

we changed him to canned food for about 2 days and then back onto dry as the vet directed, we did already end up taking him back to the vet after the shot and she said it might be a reaction but wasnt sure. we have since gotten him to eat a bit and drink some, now he just seems..down..he just sleeps a lot..meows at us like he wants something from time to time..i wonder if he misses his mother and siblings maybe..we are just feeling bad..we want him to be a joyful happy kitty

Poor little baby. Give him a stuffed animal to sleep with and a fleecy blanket loosely folded so he can snuggle into.

Is the dry food the same food he was eating before he came to live with you? I have a cat with an extremely sensitive tummy and nearly every change in food has produced a negative result.

We asked the lady we got him from and she said he was eating kitten chow, so we bought that. however when we took him to the vet about 4 days ago because after his shots he wasnt eating well, she put him on canned hills diet food for a few days, now we have been feeding him kitten chow again. He is about 9 weeks old. Its so crappy seeing him like this..we really want to make him happy we just dont know how
Im gonna try to find him a stuffed animal and a blanket like you suggested.

You could also try adding a little kitten formula, such as KMR, Catsip, etc. to the kitten chow to moisten it up a little. It can make a big difference sometimes. I'd say he is definitely missing his mommy and siblings...so he will need lots and lots of snuggles and lovins.

He doesnt seem to wanna be held very much either..I just tried to love him and pet him but he stayed a few minutes and then jumped down and ran off..its so heartbreaking >.< Its almost like nothing can please him right now..and not to sound cheap or uncaring..but I really hope he doesnt need to go back to the vet right now..Its getting very expensive..hes been about a 500 dollar kitty so far and he still needs a bunch more shots obviously.. in couple weeks..hes finally eating and drinking a little but i think he might have a slight case of diahrea now but he has stopped vomiting >.< he needs to be a happy perfect kitty lol..

You need to give him another day or so to recover, plus stop changing his food around (I would have stuck to the new canned food as cats prefer it anyway, at least a little in his plate beside the chow, and stop demanding attention from him as he is obviously feeling a bit strange. If in another 3-5 days he's still REALLY not himself, then do take him back to the vet (it's unlikely they'll charge you as it's a 'follow-up' visit to the surgery).

My cat never has preferred canned food--won't go near it.

It's possible he could have picked up something at the vet's office. If he has runny or off colored stools, you can call the vet and arrange to bring in a stool sample so they can test it. It's a lot cheaper than an office visit.
