Surgery and Dental Monday

Bella's "spay explore" surgery is Monday. She is also having some teeth pulled.

I really didn't want to have both procedures done at once, but our vet thinks it's better to put her under only once and get everything done.

Awwww i can see both sides, but thanks to pain meds it should make things a lot easier for her

My vet always stressed that it was better to put the cat under as few times as possible and try to get as much done in one session too. I was like you though and felt it may be a bit much to do at one time.

Good news - Bella didn't have the spay surgery and didn't have any teeth pulled.

Because we weren't sure if she'd been spayed before, the vet did a test to see if she was "hormonal" and it was negative. We didn't want to put her through an unnecessary surgery. He said if she shows signs of being in heat again, I should bring her right in to be tested again.

He did her teeth cleaning and found that they weren't as bad as he originally thought, so she didn't need any extractions!

He sent me home with pain injections and she's doing well. I've been giving her canned food. I'm not sure when I should give her dry food. I guess I'll give her some tonight and see if she has any trouble.
