Hubby doesn't like her and thinks she is too harsh. Me, I love her. She's been around, dealt with lots of cases before her TV show, and has excellent instincts about whether people are lying or not. If she let those folks just go on and on about irrelevant things, the show would be all day instead of 1/2 hour. She just wants facts - not lies or excuses. Honestly, the folks I've seen on her show are often victims of their own stupidity and/or lifestyle and I'd have to agree with her that some of them weren't thinking very straight to begin with. When I grow up I want to be just like her.

That's exactly why i like her as well. Straight to the point, no pussy footing around. I love it how she can read them like a book as well because you can't pull the wool over her eyes, she's seen to many people like them.

She's the American Simon Cowell!
They must be related or something...She's a TV Judge, Simon is a Judge on XFactor, they're both mean and IMO Tell it like it is, arn't afraid to say what they feel... if they're not related then its a Match made in Heaven

But I do think sometimes she could be a lil nicer, especially to kids..
Of course she speaks all sweet to the likes of a 5 year old, but any kid that is over 10 - she's not that nice!

Her program is one of my favorites! No, I don't think she's mean. She just tells it like it is. And some of the people on the show are so thickheaded and stupid that no matter how much she yells, she doesn't get through to them unfortunately.

Allowing a person to go on at will, only draws it out and provides information that is redundant and irrelevant to the case. How a person feels and what they "think" is irrelevant and just clouds the matter. Plus it gives them a chance to provide a rehearsed response. If you interrupt you throw them off balance and are more likely to get the truth out of them.
I agree with this to a certain extent, but IMO I still think she could be more diplomatic in her techniques, instead of trying to get to the truth by badgering the witnesses/plaintiffs/defendants - especially when it comes to the kids. None of the other judges browbeat the people, and they manage to get to the bottom of things w/o intimidating them. And there's really no need to call them idiots or morons - even if they are. That's abusive, and unecessary....

She horrible. She doesn't listen to people. You can tell who she is going to rule in favor of in the first 30 seconds.

No she is definitely not mean, people say Simon Cowell is mean also but actually these people are just being honest and I like that about them.

I think she is just brutally honest with some of the folks on there; I mean, have you actually watched some of the cases??? Some of these people, I think are on TV solving a case, just to be on TV to solve a case...not because they actually have much of a case. Not that her tactics are all that kind, no, but she is definitely blunt and to the point...

I do think she is mean. It's possible to be a tough judge without belittling people for no reason. She has good points and I do think that she judges fairly, she just doesn't need to personally attack people in the process.

Yes...Judge Judy can be a little mean.  But if you watch carefully you will see that she is never rude to honest litigants (even when they are guilty).  Something about dishonesty sets her off.  So god forbid if anyone ever here has to be on Judge Judy...DON'T LIE!

Hmmm. There seems to be a lot of newbies making a single post in an old thread.  I've noticed several others doing the same thing over the past couple of weeks.

Yeah, I noticed that as well. Too bad there wasn't some feature that would make it so people with X number of posts couldn't post in threads older than a year or something. Maybe I'm just giving this too much thought.

It's most likely due to Google searches, and no harm is done. If it's a new member asking about a health, etc., problem, please report it so that a mod can split the post into its own thread, where it should get more attention.

The responses they get to that first post may very well determine whether they stick around.
Not necessarily.  Within the last couple weeks there was a single post by a new user. A staff member responded and then added that they should make a post in the new user forum.  The person never posted again.

Its always the case though! not everyone will come back but about 90% will ive found that n here and ive found that on other forums dpending on how yur treated depends on whether you stay or go.

I personally have walked away from forums because ive seen how people are spoken to or how ive been spoken to.

Ill re-post that there is no harm im pulling a fun topic like this up again its a general chat type topic!
