Okay, I just have to ask. Did anyone else have weird things happen to them this past month?

For those that know me, this is not something new. If anything strange should happen, it will happen to me. I am a walking, talking, magnet for any kind of weird illness, accident or just plain talking mishaps.

This was my month:

3 weeks ago, I went to fill the coke machine in our kitchen at work. Seems simple huh? Well....I opened the machine, started placing the cans where they belong and suddenly, there was a huge crash. It took me a second to realise what had happened. Someone had placed our first aid kit right on top of the machine and when I opened the door, it threw it off balance (didn't make it fall right away though because then, it would have fell on the floor) It probably balanced back and forth for a few seconds, waited for me to take my place and then...it landed on my head! Kind of threw me off balance for a few minutes. Thankfully there were others in the kitchen with me. I sat down and recovered. In less than a couple of minutes, I was sporting quite the bump on the back of my head. Darn those First Aid Kits made out of metal (or whatever) Only good side, I had everything I needed at my fingertips.

Last tuesday, went to the bathroom (at work). Closed the door and again, a HUGE bang. I ducked, covered my head and felt the ceiling land on top of me. It was only the light cover. A large plastic sheet that fits into the ceiling. needless to say....my head caused it to break in half. Another bump....and, I cut my finger when I tried to shield my head.

Yesterday, I had the ear episode.....no more Q-tips for me. I was so happy they were able to unblock it at the hospital. I did end up with an ear ache last night but, I'm better today. Only thing is that now, I hear better out of the ear that was unblocked at the hospital than the ear I have no problem with.

With all that said and done.....is anyone as glad as I am that February is over with???? One part of my body is breathing a huge sigh of relief: my head!!!!

Movin' on up!
What's with you Canadians? You're all either sick or banging yourselves up. Must be something in the water or, maybe all of that snow!

Ghys, I can relate! I sometimes feel like I am the queen of unexplained bumps and bruises. I just run into stuff, the PA Dutch call it being Doplich. That was a word I heard a lot when I was little. Glad you made it through February without too much trauma. I have to admit I giggled at the thought of the first aid kit thumping you on the head.
Talk about irony.

Doplich, huh? Now I know how to describe myself tripping over thin air.

Ghys - we need to wrap you up in bubble wrap.

Other then being sick for pretty much the whole month with my sinus infection followed by broncitis, February has been no worse then any other month!

I always have bruises - legs, arms - and I don't know where they come from!
Ah, the wonderful mystery bruises. I have at least one a week-usually because I have the bad habit of running into my furniture or into corners. I like to say it's because I have no personal space-I don't know where I end and the world begins.

I always felt silly having these unexplained bruises. I'm glad to know I'm not the only one who has them

What a great way to phrase it!!! I am constantly saying "OW!" about something!

Bang my head on the cabinet door, stumble over something on the floor, turn around and thwak! my arm into an open drawer.

I'm looking - I've got a really circular dime sized bruise on my upper right arm, a weird series of four small bruises up my right calf, a big blotch (obviously an old bruise) on the back of my left forearm, and a bit of a hickey at the base of my neck. Well - I know where that came from.

I haven't had any mishaps lately, but I have a mystery pain in my left side. It feels like I have a cracked rib, I must have done something, but I don't know what it was.

By the way, WHY do I feel like I'm being followed?.....

Ghys, wasn't the crockpot incident also in February? I had a crock pot accident myself but I think it was January. We store the body of the crockpot (the light metal part) on the top of the cupboards and the heavy inside pot and lid inside the cupboards. At least that's what I though... I reached up to take down the body part - turned out hubby put the lid up there as well. As I didn't know that I just pulled out the whole thing in such an angle that sent that lid right onto my head
and from there right onto the floor where it smashed into tiny pieces. Boy, these things are heavy! Had a nasty bruise too. Plus had to endure hubby's remarks on how now he can be sure I won't be burning anything with that pot... :tounge2:

I used to have mystery bruises too, but for some reason I have less these days. Maybe all my extra fat is absorbing the damage

Oh Anne! I had completely forgotten about the Crock Pot incident! You're right. It was in february! . Wow, looks like you had quite the Crock Pot incident yourself! Now, question.....how in the world did you succeed in burning something in your crock pot??? That's too funny! Sounds like it is the same type of crock pot as I have. I never thought of storing it in different places. Actually, the only place that crock pot is going now is, to the dump. I can't use it anymore. The plastic is comletely melted into the metal part.

I am so relieved to hear that so many people go through similar situations. I am not alone! Yay! Now, i won't even attempt to explain all my bruises to hubby. I'll just tell him "Hey...this happens to everybody!"

The biggest bruise I ever got was one on my upper arm.it was the size of an apple (at least) To this day, I have no clue how it got there. It was the ugliest bruise I had ever seen. To make things worse...I had an outting that friday night. I had already bought the sleevless dress I wore....no matter how much conceler I applied, it did not help.

I never did! I did burn stuff in other pots. Actually I never got around to use the crockpot! That was the first time I was going to use it. I told hubby this time things wouldn't be burnt and he went "yeah right". Then, when it got broken - he said "well, you kept to your word - you never did burn anything in the crockpot"

Trust me, it is most definately possible to burn things in a crock pot! Try leaving chicken and dumplings on high overnight...
