Hi,
I'm from Halifax, Nova Scotia and my cat, Picasso, is from Charlottetown, PEI. I was never a cat lover growing up, but a friend of mine asked me to babysit her bf's cat for 5 months while he did his on-the-job-training on the other side of the country. Even though I disliked our family cat growing up (we didn't get along!) I thought I would give it a shot. Before he came back I went to the Humane Society to find a cat for myself. I had gotten used to Tigger and I really liked her! So I looked at all the cats in the HS and none of them really jumped out at me. So I took another tour of the room and there was a tiny white kitten with grey stripes on her back and tail, bouncing around the cage. She was literally throwing herself at the door! So I opened it up and she sat in my hood, around my neck, stood on my head - she chose me! She was born June 1 2005 and I adopted her at the end of September 2005. She was fixed, had her needles, MicroChipped, etc.
When I had to move back to Nova Scotia, she came with me to my parents house. I moved out to a non cat-friendly apartment with my boyfriend and my parents have been babysitting her for me. We're getting a new apartment March 1 and I can't wait to get Picasso back! My mom says she will give her away if I don't take her (check out the post I made in Behaviour!). She likes to break EVERYthing she sees!!
She's very playful and loves attention. Her favourite things to do are chase plastic tabs from milk cartons and the plastic rings from plastic bottles, climb walls, and chase this old ratty stuffed mouse tied to a string that used to be stretchy (she's worn the stretch out of it). She has a fascination with water (loves water bottles, glass cups, and the shower).
She was named after a painting Picasso did of a cat (I didn't name her) and has more personality than most humans do. If she is being good and cute, she goes by Punkin, Mummy's Sweet-Pea Punkin Pie, or Bubbakinses (don't ask how I got that one!). If she's being a little naughty, it's Miss Pablo Picasso, and if she's being trecherous (which is often) it's Miss Pablo Picasso Pumpkin Pie. She knows that one means she's in trouble!
I'll add pictures when I'm at home on my computer and not at work.
Cheers,
-P
