Hello,
I just got a 6 month old kitten who has had somewhat loose stools so he is currently on IAMS hairball control since it is high in fiber. I was wondering if anyone knows of a kitten food that is relatively high in fiber? I would prefer to feed him a food that has the nutritional needs of a kitten in mind but also has the fiber to keep him from having loose stools.

Any input would be appreciated! Thanks!

I like to go on petco's or petsmart's websites and you can look up all
the different cat/kitten foods and it will give lists of ingred along with
percentage of protein/fat/fiber etc. I would recommend doing that.

Try getting a lamb-based food. Some kitties have sensitive tummies and lamb is more easily digested then other meats.

I just recently put Zoe on Iams Hairball for her loose stool issues too and it did the trick for her
. Like you, I'm not wanting to take her off of kitten kibble completely, so I add in just a bit of Iams Kitten and just a very few pieces of Evo. The majority in the ratio is the hairball formula, but it does seem to be working for us and that is something I feel is more important than which brand or formula I use to get the results. I've tried quite a few foods over the past few months and I'm sooooo glad to have something she does well on. I hope your problems get sorted out too!

I add 1/2 tablespoon of canned pumpkin to wet food for loose stools.

I recommend trying to find the underlying cause though... have you taken a fecal sample to your vet?

lamb is the hardest to digest chicken is the easiest .... lamb is a allergy meat well it used to be

Has the vet run stool samples or blood??

changing foods too fast can be a loose stool reason

Hi everyone,

We have had a couple of fecal tests done for the cat and it all came back fine. We got him from a breeder and were told that their vet had tested him for a few different things and nothing came up. We are waiting to hear back from our own vet.

I don't plan on changing his food for a couple of weeks since he is in a new home and doesn't need another stress but I'm just doing a bit of research ahead of time before then. And of course when I do it I'll do it gradually.

Thanks for everyone's input!
