For a Interpersonal skills class..
lets take a look at at will be taught.
* stress management and work life balance,
hmm what stress i leave work , no stress,
DOnt answer cell phone , no stress,,
looks like i dont need that one

* powerful presentations.
DO i look like sales person? answer is NO i dont.
dont need..

*introduction to emontional intelligence.
What a load of horse droppings. "describes an ability, capacity, or skill to perceive, assess, and manage the emotions of one's self" i do just fine, and since this is work, and not dating, my emontional intelligence has nothing to do with fixing a network issue,
so end result is dont need.

Now this this good
*advanced emontional skills- hmm yea whatever dont need

*developing your management skills.
hire people that can do the job, if they dont do the job fire them. Dont need this one

*how to communicate like a manager
use big words that most people dont understand, to try and sound important.

Around here that also mean, make lies about people that work for you, yell and scarem like a 2 year old having a fit.
hmm, sorry dont need that also..

somehow i dont think i will be showing up.

Regardless of the topics covered, it will look good on your resume. You should go even if you take an eBook on a DVD player and listen to that instead of the instructor

EDIT: and there is 1000 catsite points in it for you if you go *wink*

For some reason "how to communicate like a manager" makes me think of Bill (think that's his name?) from Office Space...

Your work must think you need the course or they wouldn't waste the time and money to send you. Perhaps your interpersonal skills aren't quite as good as your work wants or expects them to be even if you don't agree with them. Sometimes we don't always see our own "flaws" but others do. I know I certainly have trouble admitting my weaknesses.

Well you will get a free lunch.

Sometimes the corporate life sucks doesn''t it- I was always one of those people who supposedly didn't work as a team player. IMO there were too many people not doing the amount of work they were capable of and I'm supposed to pick up their slack!!!!

I do agree with your assessment of the classes. WHo dreams these things up.

Well there you go! They want to get you more "prepared" to do the meeting things even if you aren't keen on them. I guess it must be important to their business for you to have those skills. And I'm sure it's more about their business needs than what you prefer or don't like to do. After all, they are the ones paying out the money.

Just think Bruce when you're done, you and the network can get along better. For example...

Before school
Bruce: you stupid network! just talk to the &^^&* node that I want you to talk with.
network: bleep bleep bleep
Bruce: What do you mean it doesn't exist? The &^^#@ is right here next to me...I AM LOOKING AT IT...SO TALK TO IT!!!^&*^&&*!!!!

After school
network: bleep?
Bruce: My day is fine, how is yours?
network: bleep bleep...
Bruce: Oh, you can't find B143TD server? Here why don't I massage your keys...that's it...oh what's that you're now finding it?
network: bleep! bleepbleep!
Bruce: You're welcome...I'm happy to listen and help anytime.
