As some of you may know, I have a foster kitty, Aya, here now. I have tried to distance myself-- no pictures posted on here of her (I don't know why, but it makes it feel like she is staying if I post pics) and stuff like that. My problem is, I don't want her to be a foster anymore-- I want her to stay here forever. There is no problem with her actual owner if I do this (I was helping her through some hard times by taking Aya and she told me when I took her that if I got attached she could stay). Now, here's the problem. I can afford her vet care, her food, all of that stuff, but I am in the process of finding a new place to live and I haven't seen any place that will let me have 3 cats. I LOVE this cat! She plays with Pepper, she plays with Petunia, she is just an all around nice cat. I don't know what to do. I have a couple of months (end of April, beginning of May) before I am going to move, but I am afraid of how much money I will have to pay to keep her. Ugh! I am so torn!

have you thought about getting a reference from your current landlord stateing that the cats are housebroken and have not been a problem. If you are on good terms I am sure your landlord will be happy to do so.
Also letters of reference from friends or the cable guy/plumber/electrician somone without a vested interest in the cats themselves says a lot for their houseworthyness

Well, I would but technically, I am not supposed to have her here. I was fostering her so she was supposed to leave by March. I decided to risk just taking her in because the neighbor's below me had what sounded like 10 dogs, but was more like 4. Either way, we are not supposed to have that many animals. I could definately get references from friends so I'll try that.

I know how hard it is to find a place that will take that many animals, but they are out there. I looked for 2 months before I found a place that would take my cats and my dog, but I did find a place where they were all OK.

Craigslist has a handy feature that lets you weed out places that don't allow pets right off the bat (but it never hurts to call and ask) - so never give up hope of finding a place! I had to call, call, call.

Over the river and through the woods...
Check with your vet and see if he knows of anyone that will rent to someone with 3 cats. You would be surprised what goes around in the vet grapevine. Also, try calling the humane society and see if they have a list of pet friendly landlords.

Anything is worth a try to keep a family together. She sounds like a sweetie. I hope you find a place so we can finally see her!

That would be great, but the only problem is that I am moving out of state. That kinda compounds the problem because I don't know anyone in the area I am moving to (except my bf that doesn't have pets) and my vet, well, lets just say I was not impressed with them. I just moved to Morgantown last year and have only gone to this vet here once. I loved the vet that I went to before. They were great! Actually, I might call them and see if they have any suggestions. I'll try the humane society out there too. Thanks!
