Does anyone else remember the old role-playing games from SSI such as Pool of Radiance, Curse of the Azure bonds, etc? Wizardy? Buck Rogers?

I have tried playing some of the newer RPG games, but just don't like them like the old ones. There are many games sites you can download the old games, but you need DosBox and that's where I get stuck.

Does anyone else prefer the old games to the new ones, or is it just me?

I used to play Pool of Radience... I'm partial to the older RPG's
I find them easier to understand and better if you can only play for limited amounts of time. I don't like having to find my way to "save points" before I can quit.

They seemed to be a lot more forthcoming and to be honest I really liked them for the memories.

Now...if I could just figure out DOSbox...I could play any and all of them!
I wish that someone would reformat them so they could be played on the newer PC's without remodifying them.

I tried to play the newer RPG, but I just don't like the whole 3-D aspect and I don't like having to be online. I also like having my own party so I don't really want to talk to others while playing or grouping with someone else. Although I have to admit that the graphics on Warcraft or EverQuest really are amazing!

Yep, I recently bought a bunch of castle-themed RPG games for my NES. They're so addicting!

I used to be an EverQuest junkie, back before EQ2. I quit before that came out. It was horrible to be that addicted to something... I never slept. It was fun at the time I guess but looking back I wasted 2 years of my life to it. I love RPGs for game consoles that aren't online that you can save and turn off and start back right where you finished, but the real time online ones are terrible for me...

i have played those games., most of them are good.
There are some good RPG games for the playstation, xbox.

You may want to do a search for "configure xp for dos games"
There is no longer a dos keneral or least not one big. You will have to configure each game to run. I dont know what speed you sytem is, But many of the old games just dont work well. You can also check out gametap. They have many of the older games. that you can play.

wow is good game, at least it is until you reach the endgame. Until then its a load of fun. i stopped wow once.

wow had become a job. wow started sticking its nose into real life. As i would get phone calls about problem in the guild. I would log in and spend 80% of my game time, dealing with issues with other players, stuff that happen between my guild and another guilds. Funny really many of the adults where worse then the kids.

Going over apps for shamans and warriors. Taking them on test drives to see if they really understood how to play there class. Bottom line was Wow had become a job not a game. It was all about the next instance. What new loot you could get. Also i did not enjoy the 40 man raids.

now that i am back playing a new guy with a couple of real life friends, i am having fun again. Of course my old guild does not know i am back and playing.
