I'm going to ask for a bit of that board magic...

Over the last month or so, Forest has had about four "coughing fits" where he starts hacking and coughing and wheezing a bit. They look like asthma attacks to me, but asthma is what I know. (My Harvey
had asthma.) They've all resolved themselves within a minute or so. He's had two this week, so it's off to the vet tomorrow morning.

I know asthma's controllable, and it's not the end of the world, but I was really hoping that my days of 3 am rescue inhalers were over. I'm hopeful that there's some, less chronic, explanation for these attacks. Forest sleeps with me, and all of these attacks have been in the middle of the night, so maybe it's an allergy to something.

So, since board vibes have such a great track record, can I ask for some "no asthma" vibes for tomorrow morning?

I hope it isnt Asthma. Sometimes they are ok with out Inhalers. Coco has had some pretty bad Attacks. Coco is almost 16 now. Did your Cat have to ahve the Pred and the Depro Shot too. Cocos last real bad Asthma Attack was last Aug when she had a Terrible Cold. She threw up from Coughing so much. See is on Meds for another Cold right now but I think I took her to the Vet in time. Her Asthma hasnt got out of control this time.

Harvey was on the depro shots for years, and we were able to control it with occasional shots for a long time. After a while, though, the shots stopped working so we switched to inhaled steroids. They worked really well, after we got the dosage right. In fact, on the last x-ray he had you couldn't even see the asthma. But they're really expensive and it means giving them an inhaler twice a day.

Lots of vibes for you. I am going through the same thing with Bonaparte - he has coughing fits that sound like little explosions. Wellington is on pred for asthma, and I really felt I could not be unlucky enough to have two! So I feel for you.

Thanks so much, everyone. Those TCS vibes have worked their magic again!

Forest's x-rays were clear. So it doesn't appear to be asthma. They're going to do a blood panel to see if there's something else going on there, like an infection, that would explain the coughing fits.

My vet and I both are guessing that it may be a reaction to something in the environment. She suggested upping the humidifier a bit, which we'll try. After talking with DH we've realized that the coughing fits so far have happened on nights when I've washed my hair. (I wash my hair at night and let it air dry while I sleep.) So I'm going to experiment with leaving out some of the hair products and seeing if that makes a difference. I may have a few bad hair days in my future.
