Hi My name is Mandie

Today I adopted two bengals.

The male is a charcoal with black spots and the female is a Melanistic

We are still working on names and pics
though I have one of the male though it doesnt show the true beauty of his coat.

both are still under a year. the female is younger and today she lost two teeth .

ty! I have wanted bengals for 2 years . but we were in the middle of a move and I didnt want to traumatize a new baby by moving across country. so I just did research and sort of forgot my wish untill I saw an ad for two free bengals .

now normally free shoots up warning signs. but I just had ot check it out.
It turns out it was a girl in college who had them in her dorm room and she got caught and it was either get rid of the cats or get out. so she made a hard choice.

I am working on pics of the female the above pics are of the male. the female is the Melanistic

Where I milk cows I also feed 12 barn cats and I have gotten them all but 4 fixed. (slow costly process)

We have two other cats. Princess and Dakota though I am not sure as to twhat they are.
Princess was a feral and gave birth to Dakota after we took her in.

Your kitties are gorgeous! But are you sure they are Bengals?? They look like brown tabby DSHs to me??? What cattery are they from?

I'm certainly no expert by the way...

PS - I just read more carefully. You say you got them free, not from a cattery...

Welcome to TCS - your cats are certainly gorgeous!

But as the owner of two bengals, I do have to say that yours do not look at all like they are bengals, and if you didn't receive their registration papers from the person you adopted them from, then chances are really good that they are simply domestic short hairs (DSH.)

The male MIGHT have some bengal blood in him, but he's a tabby cat more than anything. And the female COULD be a melanistic, but without seeing her coat in the right light, I can't be sure.

We have a bengal breeder here on TCS, Kai Bengals - I adopted my Max and Penny from his cattery, and he has LOTS of bengal pictures up on this site. He can give you his professional opinion as a breeder with over a decade of experience in raising bengals.

But regardless of their lineage, they are beautiful kitties, and I think it's wonderful that you adopted them!

Again, welcome to TCS!!!

I'm gonna have to agree with Ginger's Mom. Your kitties are very pretty with striking markings, but they really are not Bengals. Many black cats have a "ghost" tabby marking in the right light.

I'm not sure where you adopted your cats from, but they are not true Bengals. I'm sure you will love them anyway and take good care of them
