Introduction - I want a Bombay

I would really like to get a cat. I'm a single, male, 35 year-old, nursing student that would like to have a cat with me in my apartment.

After looking into black cat breeds, I learned about the Bombay. Reading the breed standard for personality, I'm hooked. I'm a pretty responsible pet owner as evidenced by my refusal to get a dog in my current single, apartment dwelling situation.

How can find a reputable Bombay breeder?

Are you in the US or overseas? I'd start with attending a local cat show and looking for Burmese breeders. Many of them also work with the Bombays as they can use the Burms in breeding programs. I know of several that just added the Bombays to their breeding/showing.

I wish i could help, the first cat i ever had was a bombay.
That i picked up at local APL. She had been given up the kids of a women that passed on.

she was Really a trip. always into something, loved to steal rubber bands would open ladies bags etc. lol She made a game of getting out of the house, but once she did would just sit and wait for me to come and pick her up..

I have only seen pictures of them and they are beautiful cats. I have a real soft spot for black cats, I think because so many people still have superstitions about them and won't have one. I think a sleek shiny black cat is one of the prettiest cats there is.

Going to a cat show is a great idea - Never thought of that.

Now I need to find a cat show in Dallas, Texas (or surrounding). Is there a website with show information and schedules?

I am going to Cat Shows and I wrote some Breeders dor the breeds I might get. it will help you decide.

Also, in black cats don't forget the black orientals, they are a hoot. I have one and she is quite the character.
