In October, I noticed a tiny pink (looked like a cyst) growth on my neutered male Siamese, Phantom. I took him to my Vet who was surprised I even found it, it was so tiny. (looked pale pink like the size of a cat nipple) He said it would be best to just leave it alone at that point but to come back in if it got bigger, or changed color. In Feb., I noticed it had turned an angry red color so I took him back in. The Vet removed it. The report came back today that it is a well differentiated malignant mast cell tumor. The "excision" seemed to be complete. (meaning he probably got it all) It has a low rate of recurrence and metastasis. (spread) Anyone have a cat with a mast cell tumor? I love this cat dearly, he is my buddy and if something happens to him (especially since we had Dickens one of our Oriental Shorthairs put to sleep earlier this month) I'll probably go out of my mind. He just turned six in January. Ugh-why do I always get cats with weird things? (apparently mast cell tumors are more common in dogs than cats)

I looked it up on the net and it looks like it's mainly a dogs thing, but not only. This link has feline related articles at the bottom. And this one is all about cats.

Hope this helps. I hope your furbaby will be fine - he was lucky to have someone so attentive to his condition as you were!

Hi Anne,

Thanks for looking that up for me. I did find the same info. when I did a search myself. I'm just crossing my fingers, toes etc. that I never find another one of those nasty little things on my guy.
